Da-bei setzen sie konventionelle oder computergesteuerte Fr\u00e4s-, Schleif- oder Drehmaschinen ein. Die geeigneten Werkzeugmaschinen und Werkzeuge w\u00e4hlen sie anhand detaillierter Arbeitsanweisungen aus. Beispielsweise bringen sie mithilfe von Fr\u00e4smaschinen Werkst\u00fccke auf die gew\u00fcnschte L\u00e4nge und St\u00e4rke, arbeiten Profile und Aussparungen ein und stellen durch Ausfr\u00e4sen Bohrungen her. Mit Schleifmaschinen bearbeiten sie z.B. die Oberfl\u00e4chen von Fahrzeug- oder Maschinenbauteilen, die sie aus der Gie\u00dferei erhalten. Vor dem jeweiligen Arbeitsgang legen sie die Fertigungsparameter fest, stellen die Maschinen ein, spannen Metall-Rohlinge in die Haltevorrichtungen ein und richten sie aus. Schlie\u00dflich fahren sie die Maschinen an und \u00fcberwachen die Fertigungsprozesse und die Qualit\u00e4t der Erzeugnisse, z.B.
